Old white bar security gate leaning next to the new black mesh gate that replaced it

Steel demolition and removal in McMinnville.

A rusted-through gate, a loose railing or a bracket in the way. The old steel is cut out on site, the opening is prepared for the replacement, and I can build that too.

Removal comes first

Many jobs start with removal. A rusted gate, a loose railing, stairs no one trusts or an old mount in the way. The new piece can't go in until the old one is out.

The truck parks beside the work, and the old steel is cut loose with a torch at the posts, wall or frame. Cutting near a home or business takes care. Sparks can carry a long way, so before the torch is lit I check what's around and behind the work and clear or cover anything that can burn.

Afterward the cut areas are ground back to clean, solid metal. That gives the new piece a sound base to weld to, which is what makes the replacement last. The gate in the photo above is a good example. The old white bar gate came out of an apartment doorway, and a new black mesh gate went into the same opening.

$250

call-out, within an hour's drive

Covers the trip and about the first two hours on the job. Custom work is estimated free from your photos. Repairs are priced on site.

What changes the price

  • DistanceInside an hour's drive, the $250 call-out covers the trip. Longer drives are priced and agreed before I leave.
  • MaterialAluminum and stainless take more time and shielding gas than mild steel.
  • AccessIf the truck can't park close, running cables and gear to the work adds time.
  • PrepRust, paint and grease come off first, and cracked or thin metal gets cut out. A weld is only as strong as the metal under it.
  • Plate and partsNew steel, extra plate and replacement parts are added to the bill.

Our driveway gate was badly damaged by a heavy trailer. Neal was able to re-true the gate and repair other damage. He then powder coated it and constructed and installed new steel posts to replace the original telephone posts which had also been damaged. He was able to upgrade our gate to solar power with both key pad and remote activation. He persisted in spite of software and hardware issues until the gate functioned flawlessly. He was polite, friendly, professional, and a pleasure to deal with throughout the process! I highly recommend him!!

Neal did an EXCELLENT job on repairing my boat trailer. One of the main supports for the back of the trailer was TOTALLY rotting through. Neal made something out of nothing, in my opinion, giving me a great finished product and great service - especially coming to my house to do this. I would recommend Neal for any welding needs.

Not the kind of upgrade we planned for! The weld on our trailer's back wall stud broke, leaving us in a bit of a tight spot. Enter Neal Belt, an absolute lifesaver of a local welder. Not only did he show up, but he custom-fabricated a brand-new support structure and welded everything meticulously into place. The craftsmanship is incredible. Can't Thank you enough Neal. Truly Appreciate your Expertise.

Neal is a gem. Straight up really nice guy and SOLID skills. We had a 2-door gate whose retro-fitted welds were sub- standard & not up to task. When they failed, we called Neal. He was kind, courteous, skilled, and totally reasonable. Will definitely call him for any decorative welding fixes as well! You can't go wrong with him

Neal was amazing. He created a custom trailer hitch for my 5th wheel for my ebike rack and it's not going anywhere (actually used it the next day to go camping). I liked that he made sure it was built proper not cheap. Most important he communicated through the process and changed as we needed to. I would recommend him to my family and friends.

I couldn’t be happier with Neal’s work and honest pricing.he came out the day I first called to check out the project and a week later he came out right on time, did a fantastic job fabricating the parts he needed for the fix and the finished product looked better than I imagined at almost half the price I was quoted elsewhere to bring my project to them! This is the guy!

Neal went above and beyond to repair a critical piece of equipment for my site in a timely manner. He is a true professional in both customer service and technical skills. Neal inquired about the repair before visiting my site to ensure he had a plan of action, necessary tools, supplies, etc. Once on site, he consulted with me to confirm best practices for the repair. Repairs we made efficiently and effectively. Upon completion of repairs to the original problem Neal looked over the equipment and identified a second area of concern. He alerted me to the concern, and again, together we developed a plan for this repair. The equipment flawlessly performed the remainder of the season. Neal’s repairs didn’t just “fix” the problem, he strengthened the failure points to reduce the likelihood of another occurrence of failure.

Common questions

Railing section laid out on Neal's shop floor
Can you cut out my old gate or railing?

Yes. It's cut loose on site with the torch, at the posts or wherever it's attached. Send a photo so I know what the job involves.

Can you build the new one too?

Yes, and most of these jobs include it. I measure the opening, build the new gate or rail in the shop to fit, and return to install it.

Is it safe to cut that close to my house?

Yes, with the right precautions. Cutting throws sparks, so I check what's around the work first and keep sparks away from anything that can burn. If you know of wiring, gas or water lines nearby, tell me up front.

What happens to the old steel?

Ask when you call. That's settled case by case, based on the amount, before work starts.

What does mobile welding cost?

The call-out is $250 anywhere within an hour's drive, and it covers about the first two hours on the job. Longer trips cost more, and the price is agreed before I leave. Custom work gets a free estimate from your photos. Repairs are priced in person, because the right number depends on what the metal looks like up close.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Neal's Mobile Welding holds Oregon CCB license #259068, is bonded, and is insured for $2 million in liability. A separate policy covers your equipment up to $100,000 if a weld fails or a fire starts. I passed the AWS D1.1 structural weld test, 1/8 in to unlimited thickness, and the business holds an A+ rating with the BBB. I've run it since 2021.
